The European Union still has hope

The overall results of the European elections have had mixed results. Very bad confirmations like Hungary with Orban's party that passed an absolute majority of votes. Two major European countries where the majority forces emerged from the polls are of the extreme right xenophobic as in France with the Front National of Marine Le Pen and in Italy with the League of Matteo Salvini. In the United Kingdom, the Brexit Party became the first party, but it was balanced by the affirmation of the Lib Dems who became the second party and by the Greens and the Scottish party, which instead are to remain within the EU.

Overall, the picture that emerged from the polls is better than expected: the xenophobic, sovereign forces have not prevailed and will probably be put in a corner. The manifestations of the joy of the new "monsters" will be relegated to their countries.

Today those who still believe in the European dream must make an additional effort to correct past mistakes: lack of fiscal policy at European level, greater integration of the banking system and overcome the logic of unanimous voting. Poland and Hungary must either fall within the fundamental principles on which Europe is based or be excluded.
